Volunteer

You Can Make a Difference

Every step toward unity starts with just one person who is willing to show up. One volunteer can spark a moment of connection, lift a burden off a community member, or help a police officer and a neighbor see each other with new eyes. Your presence makes the difference — not because of a title or a role, but because real change begins with one willing heart. When you give your time, your hands, or even your smile, you help us create safer neighborhoods, stronger relationships, and the kind of trust our city desperately needs.

One volunteer can shift an entire event.

One volunteer can lift an entire community. One volunteer can help change the world — starting right here.

Volunteer Criteria

Volunteer Criteria

To serve with AAOR is to stand for unity, compassion, and real change in our community. Because our volunteers play a vital role in creating safe and welcoming spaces, we ask that each volunteer meet the following criteria:

  • Commitment to Our Mission Volunteers should believe in AAOR’s purpose: bridging the gap between the community and law enforcement through education, empathy, and positive engagement. A heart for unity is essential.

  • Respectful & Professional Conduct Whether interacting with community members, officers, youth, or partners, volunteers must carry themselves with respect, integrity, and kindness. You represent AAOR everywhere you serve.

  • Reliable & Responsible We depend on volunteers to show up on time, follow assignments, communicate clearly, and complete their duties. Reliability helps our events run smoothly and safely.

  • Positive Attitude & Team Spirit We look for individuals who bring encouragement, patience, and a willingness to help — even outside of their assigned role. Teamwork fuels everything we do.

  • Ability to Follow Safety & Event Guidelines Our volunteers must adhere to all AAOR safety protocols, event instructions, and staff leadership. This ensures a secure and organized experience for everyone involved.

  •  Background Check (When Applicable) Certain volunteer roles, especially those working with youth or sensitive environments, may require a standard background check for the protection of our community.
